«I have been asked to talk about what I consider the most important challenge facing mankind, and I have a fundamental answer. The greatest challenge facing mankind is the challenge of distinguishing reality from fantasy, truth from propaganda. Perceiving the truth has always been a challenge to mankind, but in the information age (or as I think of it, the disinformation age) it takes on a special urgency and importance.» Michael Crichton
Unbelievable as it may sound, the scientific enterprises around the world has failed to define clearly how to distinguish reality from fantasy, or knowledge from beliefs. (If you think otherwise, please be so kind to prove it by providing a link). And that is the reason I started the development of the thesis presented on this site.
Who am I?
Does it really matter? What you see is all that counts. Regard proper arguments as valuable. Disregard or discredit illogical or improper arguments, regardless of who is stating them.
However – I have a university master degree in physics (cand. scient.)
By pure interest I also have
– 6 months worth of additional university courses in organization psychology
(earned while working).
– been through everything on the reading list for a 1-year study in philosophy
(By pure interest after I graduated – no exam).
My profession is within measurement. I deal professionally with:
– evaluation of model based measurements
– quantitative uncertainty analysis
– cost-benefit analysis
– risk analysis
– the design of measurement systems
– development of technical requirements and standards
– statutory regulations within my field
– development of governing work processes within my company
– research and development of new metering concepts
The things I design are actually constructed and applied for measurements having great economic importance.
That background, combined with a strong sense for utter honesty, is what made me capable of writing this thesis.
In particular, by the work with development of governing work processes, I learned how to cut into the core of things and to identify fundamental principles that have broad application.
This work took very much of my spare time over a couple of years.
It really started to gain momentum when ´Gnomish´ visited my site and engaged with my work. I only know ´Gnomish´ from the work with this thesis I don´t know his identity.
The development process is completely open for anyone to see.
This site documents how this thesis developed: https://rulesofscience.wordpress.com
The amount of e-mail correspondence is just minor and is mainly used for text drafts that are also referred to in the comments section.
I got no economic support, and to maintain my integrity I will refuse to accept any economic support.
This work will not be published by me in any other way than at an internet site that makes it freely available and open to scrutiny from anyone, that anyone can see.
